Meet Rod Spalding
"Racing is about sportsmanship." said Spalding, "Sportsmanship is the No. 1 goal." Spalding received Sportsmanship of the Year Award from the Shangri-La Speedway in 1988.
Rod always had a great outlook on life and a great sense of humor even after he was seriously injured in a racing related accident in 1988. He could often be found at the local race tracks socializing and reminiscing about the "old days". On top of is continued love for racing, Rod was also a volunteer at the Troy Lions Club and the Martha Lloyd Community Services' Human Rights Committee.
Rod passed away on August 7th, 2015 at his home in Troy, PA. The Spalding Family has requested any memorial donations be sent to the Spalding Foundation in memory of Rod.
